Little Bits of Fame:
I have been honourable mentioned by Joanne Harris in the results of her Fan Fiction Runemarks competition results, had my entered story ‘The Old Ways Never Die’ described as “great” and had a link provided against my name on her website to that story so many others can read my work.
I have also had photographs and extracts of the above mentioned story featured in the online Dismorphia Viking Chronicle newsletter. Dismorphia is a website currently under development trying to create a 3D virtual Viking York where players can enact a viking lifestyle.
I have had one of my photographs of my dog Bailey win a runner-up prize in the Smile Photo competition run by my local card shop and it has also been featured in the Huddersfield Examiner newspaper and described ‘as a favourite’.
I have also had one of my Jorvik Viking Festival 2009 photographs used and featuerd by Schmaps (a virtual tourist interactive mapsite) of York.
I have also had the pleasure of meeting Joanne Harris at the Grist Anthology Awards (she judged fiction) event at the Huddersfield Literature Festival 2009 and again at her own author event.
I have been taught by and met Gaia Holmes, a young and upcoming poet, taught by David Gill, another well known west yorkshire poet and been taught by the one and only Michael Stewart (all at Huddersfield University) who has not only improved the Huddersfield Literature Festival a thousand fold, is the genius behind Grist Anthology but who has only recently persuaded Comma Press (a publisher of the latest short story fiction) to become inhouse publishers at the University.
I have also met C.C Humphrey’s author of ‘Vlad – the Last Confession‘ which is fantasticly dark at his author event during the Literature festival 2009.
I also met my all time favourite Viking author Tim Severin at his one off event in December 2008.
I have recently met Cresside Cowell author of ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ which is being released as a 3D movie, at the Jorvik Viking Festival 2010.
If you wish to view my meetings with these famous authors and poets please visit the Aquaintances of the Writing World section for photographs.
